It turned very cold here after a mostly mild winter. It's 6F with about 2 inches of snow from yesterday. It's lightly snowing right now. I'm in central IN.

You would think that after spending about $300 today between Costco and Trader Joes that I would have something to make for dinner. But I don't. Plus, dd is still not feeling well and DH is still out of town. So, it looks like it will be pizza for the boys and salad for me. I will get my act together and cook a real dinner this weekend

Oh, yes! Last night watching Modern Family, Cam says his first crush was on a statue of a confederate general. He's supposed to be from Missouri which went for the Union and wouldn't have statues of confederate generals. Then later, Ray Liotta is taking Barbara Streisand mail from her house he now lives in. Only problem is she lived their 15 years ago. He's had mail for 15 years! I"m always nip picking my shows. Missouri was actually claimed by both the Union and the Confederacy, they had 2 state governments. They were deeply divided as a state. There are many confederate statues all over the state, even it what was pro Union St. Louis.

My older son did Cesar Chavez, he really wanted to do someone that wasn't well known (to 5th graders). DD did Harriet Tubman and younger son did Benjamin Franklin.

Those were very funny, even though all not completely true.
I can so relate to #20, I don't like showing people my bedroom. I think that is so odd, but DH does it anyway. He shows people the master bath, too, drives me crazy.

I love mashed cauliflower, I actually prefer it over mashed potatoes. I also use it in cauliflower salad, made like potato salad.

We put away just about everything last weekend except for my Willow Tree nativity set, the wreath on my door and 4 Yankee winter/holiday candles. One candle is in a really pretty frosted class winter scene holder.

We live in an HOA neighborhood, but it's not overly restrictive. We own our driveway, subject to easement, 10 ft from the road. We are required to keep the sidewalks clean, but the HOA makes any repairs. Commercial vehicles must be parked inside the garage, we all have 3 car garages, so shouldn't be a problem.
ETA Our covenants define a commercial vehicle as one that has equipment on it, i.e. ladders, and is used for commercial purposes. Signage doesn't matter, so I think a company car with a logo would be okay. One neighbor that I know of has a vehicle with a logo on it. He normally parks in his garage, but if he leaves it in the driveway, it's been okay.

I had planned to do some recipe planning/grocery shopping today, but dd woke up with severe abdominal pain. I took her to urgent care, luckily not appendicitis as was my first thought. The doctor said it was a nasty stomach bug and gave her Zofran. She's doing much better, we stopped at the grocery store on the way home to get her Gatorade, crackers, etc. and I picked up a frozen lasagna because I won't be able to get back to the store. So the boys will have that and steamed green beans, I'll have a salad, dd will have jello & crackers, and DH is out of town. Oh, I made no bake peanut butter chocolate bars yesterday, so the boys can have that for dessert.

It sounds like the only people wearing long gowns are the board members/spouses, is that correct? Given the the majority of the other attendees wear cocktail wear, I think the dressy pants/top will be fine. I attend a hospital gala every year and the majority of the ladies wear long formal gowns, but I always see a couple women in dressy pants.

I use text tones for my kids, dd's is Happy (Pharrell), ds1's is the theme from Harry Potter and ds2's is the Star Wars theme. I do have a ringtone for them that is different than the default for those rare times they call.. DH's ringtone is Hello (Adele).

I sent out about 30 and received 12, which was about the same as last year. I'll continue to send out the same, it's mostly to family and a few friends whom I don't see very often. Many are older 60+ and aren't on Facebook.

We always leave ours up until after the New Year, so I'll probably take it down next Sat or Sun. I brought most our outdoor decorations the other night when we we had tornado warnings. Most of the rest have fallen over or blew across the yard, so I'm bringing everything in tomorrow.

My kids and DH went shopping together so I'm not sure what was from whom, but I got 2 Pandora charms, 2 cardigans and a shirt, a couple statement necklaces and earrings, a $150 Loft GC and a Kate Spade tote. Loved it all!

A friend of mine who is from South Africa gave them to me a few years ago. When I opened them, I kind of thought hmm, Christmas crackers?, thinking them were something edible, lol. She explained them to me and I let the kids do them on Cmas Eve. Now they've become a tradition, the kids love them! myshelly I bought mine at Pier One this year.

Two days before Christmas and we have tornado watches and thunderstorm warnings! It's almost 70F, this is crazy. Our state DHS is advising people to bring in their holiday decorations, winds could be 70-80 mph. Who else is having unusual weather?
ETA-I'm in central Indiana, we usually have snow on Christmas. First round of storms just went through and our power is out.

We may be going to Flix Brewhouse if DH gets home in time. So we'll eat there and see Star Wars. My back up plan is roasted turkey breast from Fresh Market, roasted brussel sprouts and baked mac-n-cheese.
